Goals
The GCPC utilizes the Strategic Prevention Framework to address substance abuse issues around:
- Underage drinking
- Youth marijuana use
- Youth vaping (ENDS)
- Prescription drug abuse
Membership Meetings
The GCPC General Monthly Membership Meeting occurs on the second Tuesday of each month from 8:30-10:00 a.m. All in-person meetings take place at our office located at G4428 Fenton Rd. Flint, MI 48507.
As a result of Covid-19, this meeting currently takes place virtually via Zoom. E-mail [email protected] to be added to receive our GCPC monthly newsletter which contains the Zoom meeting details.

The Youth Marijuana and Nicotine Awareness Workgroup meet the first Tuesday of each month from 9:00-10:30 a.m.
Prescription Drug Misuse and Abuse Workgroup
The Prescription Drug Misuse and Abuse Workgroup meet the third Tuesday of each month from 9:00-10:30 a.m.
The Underage Drinking Prevention Workgroup
The Underage Drinking Prevention Workgroup meets the fourth Tuesday of each month from 9:00-10:30 a.m.

County Prevention Initiatives and Accomplishments
- GCPC 2019-2020 Community Norms Survey. This hybrid survey seeks to identify the root causes and local conditions that contribute to substance-use related issues impacting youth 12-17, young adults 18-25, and parents of youth 12-17 in Genesee County.
- Parents Who Host Lose the Most Campaign
- DEA Prescription Drug Take-Back Days in April and October
Do Your Part: Be The Solution Parents Create A Safe Space initiative.
The toolkit and accompanying mock teen bedroom scene serve as a resource to help parents and caregivers identify ways youth may conceal drug and alcohol use within the home. It also contains a resource guide that highlights prevention, treatment, and recovery resources, programs, and services available specifically for youth in Genesee County.
